Not Forsaken

“Help will come,” my teacher said, her eyes serious and loving. “It may be where and when you least expect it but it will come.”

Hope glimmered in my eyes and a faint smile appeared on my lips. Though I trusted her with all my heart, it was still hard for me to imagine where and when that help would come at that moment of grief and gloom.

                                                                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, five months later I realize that she was indeed right. Help would and did come and it was where I least expected it.
Because…
Where there is loss, there is love.
Where there is hurt, there comes healing.
Where there are mistakes, there is humanity.
Where there is hardship, there is understanding.
Where there are people, there is friendship.
And these things, these imperfections, these terrible sorrows that we have endured are what make us who we are, what bind us to each other, and what prove and bring about the glory of God. The hardship is hard but the help comes like the rainbow at the end of a storm. And this help is beautiful because it shows us that we have not been, and will never be forsaken by our God.
I know that I will be broken again. I know that more pain will come. There will be more death, more dissapointments, and more heartbreaks in my life. But right now I feel the joy of the pain…the joy of not being forsaken.
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
  1. Psalm 121: 1-2
    I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth.
    Joshua 1:9
    Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest.
    Thanks for the amazing post, Liz. Our true help comes through the Lord and sometimes He uses the most unexpected events to bring that help to us.
  2. Another amazing post. Thank you for this truth of wisdom. I’ve actually been thinking a lot about how God goes before our troubles, problems, and sorrows. He truly loves us so much, and He shows it every time. Thank you for taking time to post this inspirational message.
    Love you,
